"Our first visit yesterday and it did not disappoint. A bar atmosphere with a dining area that you can actually talk and hear your guests. The food is wonderful. We dove into the appetizers to start. Pop goes the weasel was our favorite with the pretzel, and Brussels sprouts right up there in the favorite category. Sweet potato tots were surprisingly delicious. Nachos, fish, and roast beef on cholow bread were very good. Can't wait to go through the rest of the menu! Drinks were well made, and the service was great. The only drawback for me were the metal chairs, but that's just me. This will be a frequent stop when traveling through Lansing."

"First time going to the rusty mug. Overall it was pretty good. Nothing over the top but still good. Although the fish didn't have much flavor at all, everything else was good. The tater puffs are delicious and not at all what I was expecting. The ranch is housemade and very good! The server was real friendly and told us about her 4 month old German shepherd and was quick at getting us refills. No kids menu which was disappointing, but we also didn't realize it was more of a bar atmosphere versus a pub style restaurant. Pics are our order of the fish and chips with fries, fish and chips with tater puffs, blythe sandwich (pastrami) with fries, mac n cheese and 2 appetizers were the pretzels and beer cheese as well as the chips and dip."

"Great little restaurant! My daughter and I happened in here on a beautiful spring Friday when it was 70 degrees and all the patios we could find were super full of people. The Rusty Mug had a nice open patio and we could sit where we wanted. Perfect! Food was great, the waitress was great, will definitely go back. I also really enjoyed that there was music but you could comfortably hold a conversation without yelling. We had the pretzel appetizer, she had the Hotel California wrap and it was fantastic!! I have the California Dreamin' flatbread, also fantastic...great hidden gem!"

"First time stopping in & the food was good. We ordered the Bleu Bayou with kettle chips and the Piggly Wiggly with sweet potato puffs. $32 for these and our drinks (coke, ice tea). Our waitress was friendly, but the service was a little slow. We ordered just after a party of 8, so we expected a small wait, and the food came out about 20 minutes after we ordered; this was NOT because of the waitress. She did check on us halfway through our meal. However, we did have to wait for her to come back inside the building & wait a little longer to get the bill & pay it. This would not prevent us from stopping in again. The atmosphere was average. It appeared to be a few regular patrons at the primary bar with a mix of others spread throughout. We sat ourselves at a low table, but they also had a middle bar, high tops, and a patio. We were kind of chilly (that's just us), so we would have liked to try the patio; maybe next time. Overall, I think it's worth stopping in and giving it a try. Maybe I'll try their Brussels sprouts and mac & cheese."
